This event takes place on International Women’s Day 2022. The theme this year is #BreakTheBias
The aim is to create a world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination, that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive, and where difference is valued and celebrated.
Women and others who live with Chronic Migraine face bias, being stereotyped, discriminated against, due to the misperception that migraine is just a headache and not a complex neurological disorder ranked as the 2nd highest cause of disability worldwide.
Prof MacGregor is a specialist in Headache and Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare.
She has an NHS post at the Centre for Reproductive Medicine, St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, and an academic post at the Centre for Neuroscience, Surgery and Trauma, Queen Mary, University of London.
Her research and clinical work bridges neurology and reproductive medicine, focussing on the effects of sex hormones on headache. She is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare, a British Menopause Society accredited menopause specialist and trainer, and a member of the British Menopause Society Medical Advisory Council.
She received the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Award, for her work in relieving those affected by the burden of headache and in 2011 she received the International Headache Society Special Recognition award.
