Functional Neurological Disorder and Migraine – overlapping symptoms and therapies

Migraine Ireland

December 2025

We are delighted to be joined by FND Ireland for this joint event to highlight the overlapping symptoms and treatments of Functional Neurological Disorder and Migraine.

Join us as we welcome Eamon McPartlin, Founder of FND Ireland, for an introduction to the organisation and their services.

Then, we welcome Dr. Owen Killian, Neurology SpR and ICAT fellow, St. Vincent‘s University Hospital, who will speak about FND, what is it, how migraine and FND overlap and what possible treatments are available.

Speakers:

Eamon was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder in 2021 and also lives with another neurological condition called Dystonia. He has a passion for advocacy, peer support and research which is advanced by his ‘lived experience’.

Dr Killian has a special interest in movement disorders. His research focuses on uncovering the mechanisms underlying brain network disorders that affect motor control, including Dystonia and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). Dr Kilian has been passionate about FND education for many years having delivered practical courses and lectures for medical students and psychology students on FND. He volunteers with FND Ireland as Education Liaison.

With thanks to the HSE National Lottery in Carlow/Kilkenny for the funds for this event.
