Management of Migraine
for Health Professionals

Migraine is the most common headache disorder seen by doctors.  It is estimated that there are approximately 600,000 to 700,000 people in the Republic of Ireland with this condition.

The peak prevalence is for women between the ages of 15-49 years. Some patients experience relatively infrequent attacks during their lifetime, while the average patient gets one to two attacks per month. Approximately 10% of all patients get weekly attacks.

Migraine Diary

The Migraine Diary is a simple but effective way for patients to manage migraine. A migraine diary can help to establish certain patterns in attacks. Attacks may only be triggered by a certain combination of trigger factors. Each factor on their own may not be enough to trigger an attack but when combined they do.

Using the migraine diary can demonstrate patterns causing attacks and can help reduce the frequency of the attacks.

The migraine diary will help demonstrate the impact of migraine. It is good practice to recommend using a diary to your patients. It can help him/her to implement a specific treatment plan for you.

ou can place a bulk order of diaries through the GSK Portal.
